Hiii friends! Ok so every now and then I’m now going to do these little life update for those of you that are interested! I don’t know about you guys, but I like to actually get to know the person behind the blog. Seeing as I’ve wanted to make this blog a little more personal as well I thought it would be the perfect little addition 🙂
LIFE // I’m currently on my winter break from uni – YAY. So life has included catching up on things I had to postpone during exams, renovating, preparing for a trip, and working on projects (which you should hopefully see very soon ahhhh). I also had my friend’s hens party and wedding the past two weeks; she’s the first one of my high school friends to get married so that was pretty cool! Actually all the photos above are from her Hens weekend 🙂
Anyways, this week Ryan and I are going on a little adventure for his birthday and I am SO freakin’ excited. Although we’ve travelled a fair bit together, we’ve always been with family and/or friends, which is still awesome, but this will be our first time travelling together just the two of us! Although I’m going to leave it a surprise for now, you will soon see where we’re going because I will be blogging, snapping and instagraming it all. Here’s a hint: we’re staying in Australia but we’re going somewhere much colder with mountains, waterfalls and snow 😉
THOUGHTS // You might have noticed if you read this blog post that this year I felt as though I was in a little bit of a funk. And not a funk that lasts a few days but a funk that lasts a few weeks and gradually turns into months. That kind of lingering funk. I wasn’t entirely sure why either – initially I thought maybe it was because of the unknown (the final year of uni does that to you as I’m sure many of you know) and perhaps that’s partly to blame but I (and by ‘I’, I actually mean mum – thanks mum!) eventually figured out that it was other people’s opinions starting to play with my head and making me feel like I wasn’t good enough. And I think these sorts of things don’t affect you as much if you have a strong grounding in who you are and the things you stand for – which got me thinking, who the hell am I?! Ha! A lot of things have changed for me in the past few years that it’s been a little hard to keep up and I was identifying with ‘labels’ that no longer suited me anymore, you know? And not only that but I had, without realising, twisted parts of myself and my core values to become someone these other people would approve of. This did not sit well with me, hence the funk. So the past few months I retreated a little bit just to figure myself out and the things that I value without any external influences or pressures. So yeah, basically I feel as though I’ve had one great big mental and emotional growth spurt this year. But it was so worth it because I mentally feel the best I have ever felt. It’s almost like I can perceive the world so much clearer now and things don’t really get to me as much. Anyways, I’m thinking of taking some of these lessons I’ve learnt and turning them into a blog post so I can maybe (hopefully) give you guys a little motivation if you’ve been feeling the same lately!
UNI // Or should I say lack there of 😉 I know I’m on my break but I got my marks back last week and I had to share my good news: I passed everything with flying colours! I’m SO relieved because I actually found last semester really challenging – I’m looking at you biochemistry… But it’s a great reminder that you really can achieve great things if you put in the hard work!! So now I’m going to start applying for post-grad degrees which is kind of scary and I’m trying not to think too much about it lol, I’ll keep you updated!
LOVE // Let’s talk about some of the things I’m loving at the moment. First, food. I discovered a dairy-free yoghurt based on coconut milk called COYO Vanilla Bean Yoghurt. I’ve always had this thing with yoghurt, the thing being I don’t like it haha, however it’s one of those foods I’ve been trying to get into and this one I actually really like. Plus, although I’m not the kind of person to cut out any food groups, I have been trying to limit my dairy lately because it seems to be the culprit behind my breakouts, so if you have any yummy dairy-free products or recipes, let me know! Oh also, I discovered pistachios. I don’t know why I’ve never eaten them before but now I can barely go a day without them. Second, books. At the moment I’m loving the book Thrive by Arianna Huffington – it’s all about redefining success and looking after your wellbeing. Third, clothing. I have practically been living in this coat and these boots – love love love. I was actually wearing both of them in the photos above too! Fourth, shows. Although I’m a little embarrassed to admit it, I’m currently obsessed with Love Island haha, anyone else?!
I hope you’re all having a wonderful week 🙂 xxx
