Life can be hard enough as it is so always spread love and kindness because everyone is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Genuinely care for those around you and ask if they are ok, you never know, that simple questions could have a huge positive effect on someone’s life!
In case you didn’t know, today is R U OK day and world suicide prevention day. The latest statistics show that in Australia, around 7 people commit suicide every day. Not to mention the thousands of people silently suffering from mental illness. This needs to change.
Let’s work together and get rid of the stigma attached to mental illness. Just because you can’t see it, doesn’t mean it’s not real. For those of you struggling with mental illness, don’t give up because you are amazing– battling with your own mind everyday is no easy task. Don’t be afraid to speak up and talk to someone about it, a problem shared is a problem halved. It’s ok not to be ok. Getting help does not make you weak, it means you won’t let the illness get the better of you and that takes some serious strength!
Let’s not make this message something we post about on social media once a year but something we live by every single day.
