3 Ways to Eat Quinoa

  • June 30, 2025

Today I wanted to talk about three of my favourite ways to eat quinoa. Over the years, quinoa has become one of my pantry staples thanks to it’s nutrition and versatility. If you’re not already familiar with quinoa, it is a seed that is often referred to as a pseudo-cereal and is typically cooked and eaten like a grain. It’s also a great source of protein, fibre and iron. And unlike most plant-based sources of protein, quinoa is a complete protein, meaning it contains all nine essential amino acids. Quinoa is also naturally gluten free and low FODMAP.

On top of this, quinoa is delicious and incredibly versatile. So with that said, here are three ways to eat quinoa.

Quinoa Salad

This Easy Quinoa Salad by Eating Bird Food is one of my go-to’s, particularly in the warmer months. It’s refreshing, it’s nutrient dense and it’s delicious. I typically have it with some grilled chicken or roasted chickpeas for added protein.

Quinoa and Chocolate Energy Balls

A fun way to introduce quinoa is by trying these quinoa and chocolate energy balls. Perfect for when you want a sweet snack, but also want something on the healthier side. These balls make a nutritionally balanced snack with protein, healthy fats and fibre. Not to mention, they taste great.

Check out my IG recipe reel here.

Quinoa Porridge

If you’re looking for an alternative to oats, or just want to try something different for breakfast, check out quinoa porridge. It’s great for this time of year where you want something warm in the morning. It’s also easy to make and you can get creative with toppings.

I’m a big fan of adding variety into the diet, particularly when it comes to a plant-based foods (trust me, your gut will thank you). So if you’re wanting to add in something new, quinoa is a wonderful option. These three recipes are some of my favourite ways to eat quinoa, but there are plenty of delicious quinoa-based recipes out there! When you find one you love, feel free to pass it along, I’m always looking for new recipes ❤️
